Nadia Freeman, the founder of Astra Homes, was a visionary entrepreneur and compassionate caregiver whose life’s work left an indelible mark on her community.
Business-minded and driven by a deep sense of purpose, Nadia began her journey in 1978 when she opened a small guest house, Park House SW16. It wasn’t long before she identified a greater need in her community—the demand for quality care homes.
Acting on this realisation, she transformed Park House into Park House Care Home in 1980, laying the foundation for her remarkable legacy in care and housing.
As the care home flourished, Nadia’s vision grew. By 1986, she recognised the need for a larger facility to better serve the community. With her characteristic determination, she sold Park House Care Home and acquired Pinfold Home, a property that allowed her to expand her caring activities and create a haven for those in need.
Nadia’s approach was a blend of business acumen and heartfelt compassion. She didn’t just build facilities; she built spaces where people could find comfort, dignity, and respect. Her work at Pinfold Home became the cornerstone of her legacy and through that she built other care homes: Church Road Hostel, Lancaster House and Ephraim House, cementing her reputation as a leader who put people first.
Throughout her career, Nadia Freeman demonstrated that care and business success could go hand in hand. Her impact continues to resonate through the lives she touched and the organisations she founded, serving as a testament to her extraordinary vision and dedication.
Astra Homes was Nadia Freeman’s crowning achievement and it still continues through the endeavours of her family.
